Introducing Vinasse into the diet
Including Vinasse at 8.25% helps compound-feed particles adhere more firmly to ingredients such as hay and silage. This makes the ration more uniform and reduces selective consumption of its components. The liquid form helps distribute nutrients evenly and improves feed palatability, encouraging animals to consume the whole ration.
Increased milk production
A trial was conducted to evaluate the effect of Vinasse on milk production. Forty-five lactating cows were allocated to three matched groups. The control group received the standard compound feed, while the treatment groups received compound feed containing 4.12% or 8.25% Vinasse.
Including Vinasse throughout lactation produced a noticeable improvement in milk production. At an inclusion rate of 8.25%, daily and total yields of milk standardised to 4% fat increased by 7%, and total milk fat yield also increased by 7%. The trial showed that the supplement provides an additional protein source for the growth and development of the rumen microbiome, improving digestion and nutrient utilisation.
Blood biochemistry showed that triglyceride and ALT levels remained within the normal range, supporting the positive effect of the ingredient on metabolic function and liver health.
